# Chat

> Ask the AI to help with your email

Press `?` to open Chat, or navigate via the sidebar.

## Open in Chat

Press `Cmd+/` while viewing or hovering over a thread to open it directly in Chat. The thread content is attached as context so the agent can read and reason about it. You can also use the **Open in Chat** action from the command palette (`Cmd+K`).

The thread appears as a compact card near the input. Once you send your first message, it moves to a banner at the top of the conversation.

## What the agent can do

The Brevity Agent can:

* Search your emails
* Draft and send replies
* Archive threads
* Query your email database
* Add labels

By default, the agent asks for confirmation before taking actions.

## AI tiers

Choose the tier that fits the task:

| Tier                   | Best for                  |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------- |
| **Brevity Agent Max**  | Complex, multi-step tasks |
| **Brevity Agent**      | General-purpose (default) |
| **Brevity Agent Lite** | Quick, simple requests    |

## New conversations

Press `Cmd+N` while on the Chat page to start a fresh conversation.
