# Handoff

> Delegate email threads to the AI

Open the command palette and select **Hand off to AI** to delegate a thread to the AI agent.

## Writing style

The first time you use handoff, Brevity prompts you to set a writing style. The AI uses this to match your tone in drafts.

## Entering an instruction

Describe what you want done — for example, "politely decline this meeting" or "ask for an update on the project timeline."

Choose a review mode:

* **Ask before send** (default) — the AI drafts a response for your review
* **Send without review** — the AI sends and archives automatically

## Reviewing a draft

In **Ask before send** mode, the AI shows a proposed draft. You have three options:

* **Send** — send the draft as-is
* **Edit** — modify the draft before sending
* **Discard** — cancel the handoff

## Auto mode

In **Send without review** mode, the AI sends the response and archives the thread automatically. A notification confirms the action — click **View chat** to see the AI's reasoning.

## What the AI can do

The AI can:

* Reply, forward, or compose new emails
* Archive threads
* Add labels
* Search your emails for context
